Gaga’s Workshop: If Santa Claus traded sugar cookies for psychedelics, the result might look something like Gaga’s Workshop, the gonzo holiday collaboration between Lady Gaga, her fashion director Nicola Formichetti and Barneys. Michelle Ruiz talked with Formichetti about the holiday display.

TOP: “I always wanted to make her into a spider,” Formichetti told Flash of the Gaga arachnid. “We’ve talked about elongating her arms and legs. It’s kind of impossible, but we’re trying actually. Now it’s a sculpture. I need this in my house.”

BOTTOM LEFT: Gaga and Formichetti imagined the hair-raising boudoir- inspired window with renowned hairmaster and Gaga collaborator, Bob Recine. “It’s surreal,” Formichetti said.

BOTTOM RIGHT: At the center of Gaga’s Workshop is a Mother Monster sculpture by Eli Sudbrack, with Stretch Armstrong limbs. “It’s not very ‘us’ in a way — it was a bit more like pop art,” Formichetti said. “We just wanted to do something a little … off.”

I would say it’s Union Square. It’s a major train interchange, and most Missed Connections happen on the subway. Also, it’s a large public space, and second to subways, Missed Connections tend to happen on street. Whole Foods, also, is a really lonely place.
